Il 10 marzo 1959 il risentimento del popolo tibetano, dal 1950 sotto il giogo della repressione cinese, sfociò in un’aperta rivolta popolare. The program of the day in commemoration of March 10, 2011 consists of three parts:
a sit-in in front of the Embassy of the Republic of China, flying the flag of Tibet outside the headquarters of the Province and a closing event of the Auditorium 'Ara Pacis in Rome.
